ABSTRACT SUBMISSION RULES

1. General Rules

All abstracts will be collected online via bildirim.org. Abstracts must be prepared in English. When each abstract is uploaded to the system, the system will assign an abstract number. You are kindly requested to use this abstract number in your future communications. At least one of the authors of accepted abstracts must attend the congress. Abstracts of all accepted papers will be included in the congress e-book. A conflict-of-interest statement must be included during the presentation of the accepted abstract (after the title slide in presentations, as a footnote in posters).

2. Scientific Content and Ethical Rules

While preparing abstracts, it is important to ensure that they are original and comprehensive in terms of subject and content. In the abstract, the purpose of the study and the methods used should be briefly stated, the findings should be summarized with sufficient numerical detail, and the conclusion should be explained within the framework of the findings presented. It is important to pay attention to scientific language and spelling rules. It is an absolute prerequisite to comply with ethical rules, especially in clinical studies and animal studies. Abstracts are evaluated and scored by the scientific committee in a blind manner (names of the institution and the author are covered). For this reason, person or institution information should not be given in the abstract. Abstracts that do not comply with these rules will be rejected without being evaluated.

Abstracts can be prepared on the following topics. When uploading the abstract to the system, it must be stated for which topic it was prepared.

  • Study type: Authors should mention the study type as clinical research, experimental research or case report. Studies on animals should be submitted as experiential research. Patient reports including one to two cases will be presented in case reports session.
  • Presentation choice: The presentation preference of the abstract (oral, poster, video, case presentation) must be specified when uploading to the system. However, the presentation format may be changed by the scientific committee after the evaluation of the abstract.
  • Topic: Authors should assign their abstracts one of the below topics.
    a. Only PAAFIS (except esophageal atresia): Pediatric, adolescent and adult foregut issues including all disciplines should be submitted to this topic. Thoracic and upper gastrointestinal anomalies except esophageal atresia is welcomed to this topic.
    b. Only Aerodigestive (except esophageal atresia): Aerodigestive issues including airway and swallowing problems in all disciplines should be submitted to this topic.
    c. INOEA and Joint Meeting: Studies regarding the all aspects of esophageal atresia should be submitted to this topic.

3. Abstract Writing Rules

Abstracts must be prepared in accordance with the following rules.

  • The title, institution names and abstract must be written in English.
  • Academic titles should not be used in author names.
  • Names should be written in lowercase letters, with only the first letter capitalized.
    For example: Cahit Güçlü
  • The names and addresses of the institutions where the authors work should only be stated when uploading to the abstract system. Personal or institutional information should not be given in the title or text.
    For example: ... University Faculty of Medicine, ... Department, Istanbul
  • Only the first letter of the abstract title should be capitalized. (Abbreviations are exceptions.)
  • If an abbreviation is used in the abstract, the full name of the abbreviation should be stated in parentheses.
  • Oral abstracts should be written using the headings of purpose, method, results and conclusion.
  • Case report summary should be written using the headings of introduction, case presentation and conclusion.
  • Video presentation summary; It should be written using the headings of purpose, video method and results, conclusion.
  • The entire abstract should not exceed 300 words, excluding the title, author names and institution names.

Case Report Preparation Guide

In addition to the abstract rules above;

  • The case to be presented should be original.
  • Presentation preference (poster, case, oral presentation) must be specified when uploading the paper.
  • Names, identification numbers, patient files, etc. indicating the patient's identity should not be used in the case report text.
  • If the patient's picture, surgery image, etc. will be used in the case report, it should be stated that permission has been obtained from the patient and/or legal guardian.
  • Case report summary should be written using the headings of introduction, case presentation and conclusion.

E-Poster Preparation Guide

Poster presentations should be prepared using MS powerpoint or Adobe-acrobat programs in a format that can be viewed on a digital screen.

Posters must be prepared to be displayed on a single page, vertically, with a resolution of 300dpi and dimensions of 1080x1920.

The posters must be sent to the e-mail address info@bildirim.org by April 1, 2025 at the latest. Please bring a digital copy with you to the congress.

No printed poster will be displayed. Please help us to save our planet.

Video Presentation Preparation Guide

  • In order for video presentations to be evaluated by the evaluation board, the abstract video file must also be sent in addition to the abstract uploaded online.
  • The video abstract file should be prepared in WMV, AVI or MP4 format.
  • The duration of the video abstract file should not exceed 2 minutes.
  • After the video abstract file is uploaded to a platform such as dropbox, wetransfer, google drive, yandex disk etc., the link should be sent to the e-mail address info@bildirim.org.
  • Please do not forget to include your detailed contact information and especially your mobile phone number in the e-mail you send so that we can contact you in case there is a problem with the video file you uploaded.
  • The deadline for uploading video files is the same as the abstract submission deadline.
  • Video presentations without a video abstract will be excluded from evaluation.

Authors of accepted abstracts for oral and poster presentations are expected to submit their manuscripts for consideration to be published in Turkish Journal of Pediatric Surgery. The manuscripts prepared in accordance with journal’s guidelines should be sent before 1 April 2025 to be evaluated for publication in the congress issue by The Scientific Committee (https://journalpedsurg.org).
